Micah Richards won the Premier League with Man City and earned 13 caps for England, but one of his biggest footballing regrets was never having the chance to play for Celtic…

That revelation from the former Manchester City defender caught co-hosts Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer off guard before he was warned about a likely backlash from theRangers supporters.
Richards made 245 appearances for Man City
Richards made 245 appearances for City and was a key member of the squad that dramatically secured the 2011/2012 Premier League title in the dying moments on the final day. He later had spells with Fiorentina and Aston Villa before retiring and establishing himself as one of football’s most well-known pundits.

“Cue theRangers pile on!” Alan Shearer
However, when questioned on The Rest is Football podcast about which team outside the notorious ‘Big Five’ leagues he would have liked to play for, Richards had only one clear choice. He responded: “I’m going to Celtic; I’d loved to play for Celtic.” With a solemn look, Shearer replied: “Cue theRangers pile on!”
Lineker then urged Richards to clarify his statement to avoid any backlash, prompting a laughing Richards to respond with: “Celtic or theRangers!”
