Mixed news for the Celtic fans as Neil Lennon delivers a transfer update

It’s fair to say that the transfer market this summer will be stranger than ever, and it’s hard to see how it will work out for Celtic.

We’ve got a strange situation where most leagues around the world are still playing, so a lot of teams won’t want to conclude any deals until their season ends.

Celtic have often found themselves in a position where they need to wait a while to land their targets as other things need to happen first, but it can be frustrating.

Re-signing Fraser Forster is the most important thing just now, but Neil Lennon’s transfer update brings mixed news for the fans.

He said the following to CelticTV after the draw with Nice today:

“We’re hoping to bring in a few more players as we go along. I am happy with the squad in the main and getting Moi over the line is agreat bit of business for us. So there’s continuity there for us going forward. The core group that are here I am very, very pleased with.”

Thankfully that does suggest some deals will be done at some point, but it also indicates that we shouldn’t be expecting anything soon.

It’s not clear if he has main targets that he’s hopeful of landing or if it’s a case of waiting to see who could be become available, but it might also be the case that some signings won’t be here before the league starts.

It’s mixed news and it’s not fair to judge the transfer activity until the window is closed, but it would be good if the club does their main business sooner rather than later.
