Moi Elyounoussi makes ominous claim to Celtic rivals

MOI ELYOUNOUSSI has made an ominous claim that will worry Celtic’s opponents as the Norwegian winger believes that his best is yet to come. The 27-year-old has three goals in two games and looked like the player that terrorised defences last season but Elyounoussi thinks he’s not yet hitting his best form.

The Southampton-loanee told The Glasgow Times that he was happy with his form but vowed to get better as Neil Lennon’s side chase more Scottish footballing history. The ex-Basel attacker had seven goals and six assists last season before an injury hampered his performances. However, with the change in formation, Elyounoussi looks more of a threat than in a striking role.

“I’m always happy to score goals and provide assists for the team. Obviously, as a player, you always want more and sometimes you think more about the chances you didn’t take than the ones you did.

“So I’m content with how I’ve done so far but I’m still hoping that there is even better to come.

“At any time you always want to bring a big performance, whatever the game is. I don’t think too much about what happened with the injury last year because this is a new season and I have it all ahead of me.

“Now I’m doing everything I can to stay healthy and, hopefully, to score more goals for Celtic and for Norway.

“It’s hard to say how close I am to my best form at the moment but I’d like to think it’s currently better than 80 percent. But, you know, I can always get better as a person and a player.

“I know I can improve but I believe it’s impossible to reach 100% because you’re never completely satisfied – you always want more from yourself.

“Hopefully, then, I can grow as a player – because that’s why I came to Celtic in the first place.”

Celtic are nine points behind but have two games in hand over Rangers, meaning that Steven Gerrard’s side would sit at just three points if Celtic won their games in hand. Elyounoussi helped Celtic seal a place in the Scottish Cup Final next month with the second goal of the game against Aberdeen on Sunday.

The left-winger will be hoping to continue this form with Celtic versus Sparta Prague on Thursday then at Fir Park on Sunday. After that, he will go on International duty with Norway who play Israel, Romania and Austria.
