Club official slams troublesome agent

AL ALHY‘s Director of Football Sayed Abdel Hafeez has hit out at the agent of Mohamed Magdy, who claimed Celtic were interested in a deal to bring the Egypt International to Celtic Park. Abdelrahman Ismail told Egyptian news outlet Kingfut, which has incensed the Director of Football with the CAF Champions League Final against Zamalek or Raja Casablanca this month.

The 24-year-old joined Al Ahly from Pyramids FC in 2019 and has scored seven goals and assisted ten times in the previous season. Now, Hafeez has said (as reported by Glasgow Live) that there is no offer but they expect interest.

“Firstly, there has been no offer for Mohamed from Celtic or anyone else.

“And secondly, this is not the time to talk about transfers. All our focus is on the Champions League Final and this kind of needless talk is distracting for both the player and the club.

“We accept there will be interest and eventual offers for him and that’s a tribute to his success this season.

“But at this moment, there are no offers and Mohamed is putting all his efforts in his preparation for the Final.”

Magdy’s agent had claimed that Neil Lennon’s side are interested in bringing to the club before loaning him out again.

“Scottish club Celtic are very interested in the services of Al Ahly’s Mohamed Magdy Afsha.

“Celtic want to sign Afsha and then loan him out to a European club.

“However, Al Ahly is against the idea of letting the player go especially as they are preparing for the CAF Champions League Final.”

Celtic are already well stocked in the attacking area so there is likely to be little in the story beyond an agent attempting to drum up interest in his client. Olivier Ntcham, David Turnbull, Ryan Christie and Tom Rogic are all already in place so any move for the player is likely to be speculation.
