Mooymania: “He’s been fantastic since he came to the club,” Callum McGregor

Celtic captain Callum McGregor, after making his 400th appearance for the club, was joined by yesterday’s Man of the Match Aaron, Aaron Mooy for the post match interview on Sky Sports Main Event yesterday afternoon. Celtic’s latest win, this time by 2-0 against Dundee United at Tannadice, featured a goal and an assist from the hugely popular Socceroos star who the Celtic fans simply can’t stop signing about.

Here’s what the Celtic stars had to say to Sky Sports…

Q: Just how pleasing was that to win here today?

Aaron, Aaron Mooy: “Yes. It is another three points and it was tough conditions but we got the job done. We look forward to the next one.”

Q: At half-time what did the manager say to you about coming out in the second-half and getting on the front foot again?

Aaron, Aaron Mooy: “Just keep playing the football and keep wearing them down and that’s what we did and got the goals.”

Q: Did you feel you should have had a penalty before half-time? What were your thoughts on that incident?

Callum McGregor: “I think when we see it back it is probably the right decision. It is one of those where the two of them go together and the referee had said he got a nick on the ball so be it. That’s what VAR is there for. Touching on the first-half I thought we played really well and were unlucky not to go in ahead.”

Q: Was the message not to panic and just keep playing?

Callum McGregor: “We created some good openings and opportunities and it was just a case of being a little bit more aggressive and having a bit more quality in the final third. In the second half, we scored two quick goals to take the game away from them.”

Q: How do you describe the man next to you and how he is developing as the weeks go on?

Callum McGregor: “He has been outstanding since he came into the team especially playing in that number eight position. He is really comfortable on the ball, he can get turned, he can see passes and he is getting goals. He is giving us a bit of everything and has been fantastic since he came to the club.”

Q: Do you feel that you are developing that understanding more and more in the Celtic team with the other midfielders?

Aaron, Aaron Mooy: “Yes that’s what I want to do. I want to become better and fit into the system better and learn the system. I am enjoying it and it is a good group of lads.”
