Motherwell slip to defeat at Ibrox, hosts booed off, Celtic up next

Celtic travel to Fir Park next weekend to face Motherwell. Stuart Kettlewell’s side were narrowly defeated by Michael Beale’s stuttering Gers, who were booed from the field by the disgruntled Ibrox support.

Rangers were wasting time according to Kettlewell and despite the three points, pressure will remain on Beale.

A deflected first-half goal from Cyril Dessers gave the hosts the lead but the vibrant visitors challenged throughout and will be disappointed not to have taken something. They will look at next weekend’s game at home as an opportunity to lay down a marker against the Scottish Champions.

Celtic will, however, relish the opportunity to face Motherwell. With victories away at Pittodrie, Ibrox and Livingston, Brendan Rodgers’ team is slowly taking shape. A victory on his first visit to Fir Park in 2016. The Celts came from 2-0 down then 3-2 down before winning the game 4-3.

On Saturday’s trip to Livingston, Celtic were able to navigate the artificial pitch as well as going a man down. Joe Hart’s sending off allowed Rodgers to play 4-3-2 and frustrate Livi. It was a battling display and one that the manager will be pleased with, especially given the ca f the team were on the back of a European trip.
