Muir’s position untenable after release of scandalous VAR audio

On Friday the Scottish FA released the long awaited VAR audio concerning our controversial disallowed goal at Easter Road a fortnight ago…

At 2-1 down with just 10 minutes remaining Daizen Maeda tucked the ball into the net and we all celebrated what we believed to be an equaliser in a game at one point we were two goals behind. We had every right to celebrate as even the on field officials signalled it as a legitimate goal, but then VAR and one man in particular stepped in to and dent any hopes of a spirited comeback.

We all of course knew this before Collum cleared it all up, but now it’s official that Muir went against the rules he should now be held fully accountable, meaning his position of influence should surely now be untenable.

Not that this will happen. He’ll have friends on secret places looking out for him and he’s more likely to be patted on the back than punished. Hang around a few years and he’ll be appearing on the after dinner speakers circuit telling his tales of how he managed to stick it up Celtic on days like our recent trip to Easter Road and many others too.

Imagine a former referee doing such a thing – don’t be ridiculous.

  1. It was certainly astonishing that Muir didn’t appear to know the rules that if the VAR couldn’t see the incident clearly then he shouldn’t interfere with the on-field decision but remember, he was the VAR during our game with The Rangers when he didn’t award them a penalty for Scales pull on the attacker’s shirt just inside the area which later was deemed should have resulted in a penalty for them.
It would seem, therefore, that it’s more to do with incompetence on his part – and that’s even more of an indictment on the poor standard of refereeing in Scotland given that he’s one of the more senior ones.

    • Your comment on the League Cup Final incident is very different though.
There were two very different factors involved which supported the call that day.
Apart from the fact that the call was in all reality the correct call, John Beaton had already blown for the free kick when the first contact was made, OUTSIDE the box. VAR, LINESMAN AND VAR ASSIST, all agreed it was outside on first contact but continued onto the line. But by that time the whistle was already blown. That was a FACT! The game had already been stopped and free kick awarded.
Then along came Willie Collum’s interference to appease his employer from Govan!
The one and ONLY reason Collum reacted and said the things he did was to appease his establishment club chairman! Let’s not forget, all this only came about after a “behind closed doors” meeting!
Yet to this day, while Rodgers asked directly about the reason for VAR disallowing the second goal at Easter Road last month, he STILL hasn’t responded to Rodgers!
There’s still one rule for the new club and one for everyone else!

  2. Yes been happening for before sevco he ain’t the only ref but I see a change but there’s still those 50/50 that always go against us Beaton and his brothers no they are been scrutinised show muir must be made an example of to stop it happening again i know other teams suffer but this is so blatant it can’t be overlooked
