Neil Lennon backs Celtic star after another shaky performance against Livingston

It’s incredible that some players just have a certain opponent or stadium that brings out the worst in them, but the more it happens the more it tends to continue.

The most famous example was Nemanja Vidic who always looked like a ferocious and world class defender, but the presence of Fernando Torres would make him go to pieces.

It seems we have a similar situation with Christopher Jullien and Lyndon Dykes when Celtic play at the Tony Macaroni Arena.

We saw him struggle in the 2-0 defeat earlier on in the season, and it happened again last night. It’s an odd one because Dykes is a decent player, but the Frenchman has dealt with much better players this season.

Perhaps the pitch does play a big factor as you always live in fear of the ball taking a strange bounce, but HITC picked up on some comments from Lenny to The BBC after the game and it’s clear he’s sticking up for his man:

“It’s not like him [Jullien]. He has been outstanding this season, so he just lost his balance and we got done for the goal. But the response from the team was everything I would expect from them and more.

While it may be tough for a lot of fans to accept a draw, it does show how strong the team is when they battled back from two big mistakes to take something from the game.

Fraser Forster and Jullien have been incredible all season so those mistakes can be put down as a one-off, and this time their teammates bailed them out and that should be applauded.

Perhaps Lenny will just need to find someone else to play in the games against Livi next season…
