Video: Celtic Massacred This Weekend’s Opposition Three Years Ago

On this day in 2017, Brendan Rodger’s Invincibles, decimated St Mirren at Celtic Park in the Scottish Cup. It wasn’t all plain sailing though, as Celtic were given an early scare when Davis put St Mirren ahead. It was a lead that the Buddies maintained until half time, but whatever Brendan told his team must have worked as Lustig drew the Celts level within 15 minutes of the restart. Less than 60 seconds later, Scott Sinclair put Celtic infront, Dembele and Griffiths goals at ten minute intervals completed a 4-1 victory, turning the afternoon into a dominant stroll.

Celtic have scored 10 goals in their last three home matches against St Mirren. The last time the Hoops faced the Paisley club at home was in October 2019, when Celtic ran out 2-0 winners, whilst the encounter previous resulted in a 4-0 home win at Paradise in January of the same year.

In total, Celtic have won 18 of 19 matches against St Mirren at home, and 34 of the last 40 matches between the sides overall. A victory would be most welcome this weekend, as it would put Celtic 16 points clear before the Rangers travel to play Ross County on Sunday.
