A football rivalry mainly comes down to two sides trying to figure out how to outdo each other, so it’s always welcome when the other side do all the hard work for you.
Steven Gerrard is having a particularly tough time just now, he clearly doesn’t know how to handle defeat and he’s finding out that publicly throwing players under the bus might not be the best thing either.

He’s now resorted to soundbites that may sound great in front of the mirror, but his comments about “Celtic blinked with one eye but we blinked with two” will go down in Scottish footballing history.
It’s worth pointing out that blinking with one eye is actually winking, so it’s just made him look more foolish.
The home fans at Ibrox also decided to hold a minutes applause in the 8th minute last night to celebrate their boss, so this appeared on Twitter today and would be some top class mockery if it went ahead:
‼️ATTENTION all Celtic Fans: We are planning a minutes applause for Steven Gerrard on the 8th minute of the Celtic vs St Mirren game on Saturday to recognise his contributions towards 8 and 9 in a row. We will also accept blinking instead of clapping! 😉

It might be worth winking rather than blinking for the full effect, but it would be brilliant if this could happen.
