Neil Lennon gives his thoughts on the Rangers’ defeat vs Hearts

The Rangers’ high lasted just a few weeks. After claiming that they were destined to reach the top of Scottish football once again following their first victory at Parkhead in almost a decade. The win meant that they had the opportunity to go top of the Premiership table if they managed to win their spare game in hand.

As it turns out, they have blown that opportunity after losing unexpectedly at bottom-placed Hearts. It would be wrong to say that it has not been coming for some time though as the Rangers have looked extremely poor since returning from the winter break. While they did just enough to win their first two games since the restart, it was not enough against the Hearts. The defeat also means that Celtic are back in control of the title race.

As a result, it was always going to be interesting hearing what Neil Lennon had to say about the matter. And while speaking with Celtic TV, when asked about their Glasgow rivals’ recent defeat, the Hoops boss said:

“It’s a result that happens. Things will twist and turn maybe as we go along.

“We are just concentrating on St Johnstone and looking forward to the game because we have played quite well since the turn of the year.”

That is exactly the attitude that one would have expected from a manager who has become a serial winner over the years at Celtic. He knows that the season is long and the result of one or two games can prove to be vital. But it is important to not give others too much importance right now. The focus must remain on our own games and not dropping any points.
