Neil Lennon sends warning to clubs interested in Celtic players

It is no secret that Celtic are at the top of the food chain when it comes to Scottish football. After winning eight straight League titles, they have made a strong start to this season as well. Currently the Hoops are 5 points clear at the top of the Premiership table, have won the Scottish League Cup by beating the Rangers in the final and are in the last 32 of the Europa League where they will take on FC Copenhagen.

With the January transfer window coming up, the team are expected to bring in a few players after having had to suffer through injuries to a number of their stars in the first half of the season. But one thing that has not been discussed a lot are the players who will be looking to leave the club after not getting enough game time under Neil Lennon.

Despite having his hand forced a number of times due to injuries, the Celtic boss is not one to rotate his first-team too much. But when asked about possible departures in January, Lennon did not seem too keen to part with any of his stars.

Talking with the Scottish Sun, Lennon said:

“We don’t have to sell, and we don’t want to sell.

“That will be the message, unless we get an out-of-this-world offer for somebody. We are content in the knowledge that the big ones won’t go anywhere.”

This is a clear case of why fix something when it is not broke. It is important to have top quality backup considering the number of injuries that Celtic have suffered this season as a direct consequence of their incredibly busy schedule. In fact, the club should be looking to bring in more cover for some of their top stars in order to prevent them from burning out.
