Neil Lennon’s injury update as Mikey Johnston heads to specialist and Rogic to return for PSG clash

NEIL LENNON gave supporters an injury update as a youthful side lost 2-1 to Lyon last night. The Irishman named a much changed side and were 2-0 down at the hands of Lyon’s full strength before subbing what appeared to be his first choice team on at the hour mark. A goal from Elyounoussi gave the Scottish Champions something to show for their efforts but it wasn’t enough to avoid defeat.

Three noticeable absentees from the Celtic squad were Tom Rogic, Mikey Johnston and Vakoun Bayo. Lennon gave his update on the latter trio, as reported by the Glasgow Times, saying that they had been struggling with injuries.

“Mikey’s got an injury and he’s back home. He has been having problems with his calves and he needs to see a specialist.

“He’s not had much luck. It’s been a bit stop start but with his age and going through the maturation process he’s picking up injuries. It’s frustrating for him and frustrating for us.

“Bayo has an injury too and he is getting treatment.”

Meanwhile, Tom Rogic was not named in either of the matches in Lyon but the Australian posted on his Instagram story that he was in Paris and could be making a return to action.

Lennon revealed that the creative midfielder had picked up a knock in Loughborough but that he would be back in contention for Tuesday’s match.

“And Tom Rogic rolled his ankle towards the last day in Loughborough but he should be back for Tuesday.”

Celtic will take heart from the news that PSG will rotate their pack, giving their first team stars 45 minutes each as the Parisians prepare for the cup final with St Etienne on Friday. SEE HERE
