It’s like a flurry of London buses.
You wait all summer for someone, anyone, to take Odsonne Edouard off your hands for a big sum – and then all of a sudden, when you just about think that he might stay here for the duration of the year, three come in at once in a bidding war.
I suppose it is a good thing, if anything. Had it just been one team, Celtic may have been held to ransom by the interested sides and could have ended up with a short-handed deal. However, with four clubs reported to be in the race for the Frenchman – Rubin Kazan, Bordeaux, Brighton and Everton – at least Celtic hold all the cards in terms of who they sell to.
And now another side has joined the table, although the chips are not as high; as Crystal Palace have reportedly made a £15million bid for French Eddy, according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon.
Nixon, a Glasgow native and Partick Thistle fan, has above average contacts in the Scottish game in all fairness; with his updates on Joe Hart and James McCarthy consistently on the money.
And, if his sources are to be believed, Palace have now made an official offer – and although it just falls short of Rubin Kazan’s bid, it could tempt Celtic to spark a bidding war for the talisman. Let the fun commence…
Odsonne Edouard fever. Crystal Palace have now made an official offer. In 15m region. Close to Rubin Kazan and with Bordeaux also involved. Celtic have their auction …
