Nicolas Kuhn – Celtic’s perfect Jota replacement

Fair to say that Nicolas Kuhn can now be considered as Celtic’s perfect Jota replacement…

It’s incredible to think that Celtic made £22m replacing one for the other and that Kuhn’s value is now at least equal to the sum that Al Ittihad paid for our former Superstar from Portugal.

Losing Jota was a blow

Losing Jota last year at the time was a huge blow for the Celtic support. Our Superstar from Portugal was one of the best talents we’ve had in years, and despite receiving a whopping £25 million for him it wasn’t enough going to be enough cash to replace a player of his calibre.

Or so we thought. Last January Celtic parted with a ‘measly’ £3 million for Nicolas Kuhn, and despite a slow start he’s now came on leaps and bounds. So much so that there is talk of him leaving for more than Jota himself, should any interested side wish to bid for his signature.

Kuhn has been a revelation

Nicolas has been a revelation this season and his goal at Rugby Park on Sunday was his 12 goal of the campaign, and along with 13 assists, it’s not surprising there’s been talk of interest from EPL sides.

Nicolas is a goal threat and goal maker. He’s strong and has an abundance of energy not to mention blistering pace. He is very much the complete player and at only 24 he will continue to get so much better.

The perfect replacement

Of course Jota is still a huge miss for the players and supporters alike, and it was thought that we would struggle to replace him, but I think it’s safe to say that in Nicolas Kuhn we have found the perfect replacement.

Jota’s pace was fine but Nicolas Kuhn is quicker – again we saw evidence of this on Sunday when the Killie defenders simply couldn’t live with his pace at his goal. The interest is already starting but Celtic should be in no rush to sell a player who is in his first full season at the club and is on a long term contract.

Hats off to Mark Lawwell

Hats off to Mark Lawwell for this one, he came in for criticism for some of his recommendations during his time at Celtic, but he earned his crust with this one. Credit where credit is due.

If you had a choice who would you select for Celtic right now. Jota or Nicolas Kuhn? I think the German wins that one hands down. That’s how good he is! Me? I’d have one on each wing!
