Tough as always – Celtic get Rangers in Sky Sports Cup draw

Celtic FC Women’s reward for knocking out current SWPL1 leaders Glasgow City from the Sky Sports Cup (that’s the League Cup in old money) was decided today when former Celtic keeper Craig Gordon helped out with the semi-final draw at Hampden...

And it’s another all Glasgow encounter as Elena Sadiku’s Celtic side who have been drawn against holders theRangers in the Sky Sports Cup semi-final with Hibs playing Aberdeen in the other semi-final.

Revenge Mission for Celtic 

Revenge will be in the air for Celtic who were knocked out of both cup competitions by theRangers but did end up getting the last laugh by winning the SWPL1 title in dramatic circumstances and that opened the door for a great Champions League run which has taken Celtic into the group stages among the top 16 sides in European football and with earnings of around £500,000.

Tomorrow evening Celtic take on five-in-a-row English Champions Chelsea at Celtic Park in the UEFA Women’s Champions League in the club’s first ever competitive match against English opposition. A large crowd at Celtic Park is expected and tickets are still available via the official Celtic FC website.

Semi-final pencilled in for Sunday 19 January 

Both Sky Sports Cup semi-final ties will to be played on or before Sunday 19th January. Celtic can park this for now but before we take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge next Wednesday in the return UWCL fixture, Elena Sadiku’s side play theRangers this weekend in the SWPL1 as the Champions look to leapfrog them and hunt down Glasgow City at the top of the table.
