No £15m price tag for Juranovic, player’s agent reveals

Josip Juranovic’s agent Hussein Algaaod spoke to Index, the Croatian media outlet, to clear up the situation as things stand with Josip Juranovic who has been the subject of transfer speculation this summer after an outstanding first season at Celtic and a series of impressive performances for Croatia in the Nations League.

Juranovic was the subject of a tweet from prominent transfer expert Fabrizio Romano who indicated that the Celtic full-back was expected to leave the club this summer amid increasing interest from the Premier League.

“Croatian national team right back Josip Juranovic is expected to leave Celtic FC this summer as many clubs are following him.

Jurankvic is attracting interests from Premier League clubs too after great season for club and country,Fabrizio Romano reported.

Sky Sports at the weekend added to the speculation by naming Atletico Madrid as the latest club to be coveting the Celtic Star and that’s where the supposed £15m Celtic valuation emerged from. That though seemed unlikely as Celtic were never likely to look to minimise their return from any transfer by setting the bar low from the minute any speculation emerges.

Despite Romano’s observations the news from Croatia have always been that Juranovic is happy to remain at Celtic, given the club will be participating in the Champions League this season and he wants to ensure that he retains his place in the international side for the World Cup in Qatar at the end of the year.

And notably performances in these, the two most prestigious tournaments in world football will only see Juranovic’s value soar.

Here’s a translation of what Index have reported after speaking to Josip’s agent Hussein Algaaod:

Josip Juranović, right back of Celtic and the Croatian national football team, is the subject of numerous articles ahead of the new season.

Sky Sports wrote today that Celtic have set a price for him and that Atletico Madrid wants to bring him. Sky Sports stated that Celtic will sell Juranović for at least 15 million pounds (17 million euros).

In a conversation with his agent Hussein Algaaod, we learned that this story is not true. The price for Juranovic is not fixed at 15 million pounds. The club doesn’t really want to sell him unless a really big offer comes along. So far, several clubs from five leagues have shown interest in bringing him, but there is no concrete agreement, Algaaod told us.

Juranovic arrived at Celtic last summer for three million euros and has a contract with the famous Scottish club until 2026. In the Scottish league, the 26-year-old right-back scored three goals with one assist in 26 appearances.

Yesterday Juranovic himself sent teammate Joe Hart a ‘see you soon, keep everything safe’ message in Instagram. As an international performer over the summer he’s one of the players in that category who have been given an extra week off, so we can expect to see him next Monday training at Lennoxtown, alongside his Portuguese pal in that photo shown above taken after the 3-0 skelping on 2 February.

  1. He’s worth far more than £15m!

How much do you think Kieran Tierney would cost us if we tried to sign him back; £60m!? …probably more!?…Juranovic is in that bracket, a top class footballer who excels in his position!
