No bids yet for Celtic target but Peterborough drumming up interest

Peterborough’s Barry Fry has admitted Siriki Dembele has admitted that there have been no bids yet for Celtic target Siriki Dembele. The 24-year-old has impressed this season, becoming a mainstay in Darren Ferguson’s side but has already indicated his desire to leave the club, handing a transfer request into the club back in January.

As reported by the Peterborough Telegraph, Fry admitted that the it would be in everyone’s best interests if a move didn’t transpire before the start of the season for the player to begin the season with Posh in The Championship.

“It’s been quiet as far as bids are concerned. And it could be that Siriki starts the season with us. If he does he would best advised to play his heart out for Posh as the transfer window remains open until September 7 and that gives him a month to impress someone.”

Dembele is the brother of Celtic youth prospect Karamoko Dembele and has been linked with the Scottish Champions as well as Glasgow rivals Rangers. The attacking midfielder, who can also play as a winger, earned a place in the EFL League One Team of the Year as Peterborough earned automatic promotion to the Championship.

Dembele, who started his career with Dundee United, joined Posh in June 2018 and has scored 11 goals and notched up 12 assists for the London Road outfit this season. This impressive form has garnered the interest of a number of teams, including Celtic. Ange Postecoglou’s new-look side could be well placed to offer Dembele the next step in his career with the chance to play for trophies as well as in Europe.
