‘No Drama’, Kennedy cools disharmony talk after Albian Ajeti left out of squad for Glasgow Derby

John Kennedy has moved to quash any talk of disharmony after Albian Ajeti was not selected in the squad of 20 to face Rangers at the weekend. The Swiss striker, who joined for £5m from West Ham, was not included as Kennedy opted to start Odsonne Edouard and Moi Elyounoussi in attack with Griffiths and Klimala on the bench.

However, there were question marks regarding Ajeti’s future after he was left out of the team. But Kennedy, as reported by the Daily Record, has said that he has spoken with the 24-year-old and there are no issues.

“We had so many fit players and everyone wanted to be involved. Three strikers on the bench for the game wasn’t quite right.

“I spoke to Albian and addressed it so there’s no drama. Every game is different. We needed a balance on the bench but it’s fine.”

Despite five goals in his opening five games, Ajeti was injured in as he scored against Hibs. He then went fifteen games without a goal, ending that drought against Killie. This was his last goal for Celtic but since then he has found himself out of the team as Neil Lennon resigned and he was replaced by John Kennedy.

Ajeti will be hoping to have more luck under a new manager and that he can really put this poor season behind him. Celtic are yet to appoint a new boss but given some of the names mentioned, Ajeti, his teammates and the supporters can be hopeful for the future under a new management set-up, spearheaded by Dominic McKay.
