Alexandro Bernabei has found out the hard way that Brendan Rodgers is not a man to be messed with. According to reports the Argentine felt the full fury of the Irishman after failing to turn up to a team meeting after apparently sleeping in.

A few eyebrows were raised after his exclusion from the squad for the season opener against Ross County last weekend after his decent pre-season form. It was just presumed he was carrying a knock of some sort.

Alexandro is no stranger to controversy off the field since his arrival last summer, although he’s now fully settled and has just recently become a father. He’s a man with added responsibilities, so he needs to act like one.

This looks like something of a set back for him after his decent showings in pre-season, let’s hope that’s all it is and he’s not slipping into a routine of sloppiness. Brendan won’t except anything less than total commitment.

Brendan is the ultimate professional and expects his players to be the same. Maybe Bernabei has his excuses, a baby crying through the night can be tough when you have to get to your work in the morning as many reading this will know. We don’t know the full reasoning behind it after all but Brendan Rodgers will not allow standards to fall at Celtic, regardless of the situation.

Let’s just hope it’s a one off and he puts it behind him and proves his commitment to Brendan and the club. If not, he could be heading for the exit door. It will be interesting to see the substitutes named for the game on Sunday at Pittodrie to see if Bernabei’s punishment was for the Ross County game only or if he’s going to have to work his way back into the manager’s match-day plans.

  1. Im sorry but I genuinely think this kind of stuff should stay inside Celtic park. It just feeds our haters. The guy was late for work, who reading this has never done that. We had enough leaks during our failed 10 season about line ups and stuff.
