Not even a flicker of humour, the big man is enjoying serving that humble pie ice cold

Dead pan stand up comedy at its finest today as the hacks and pundits got their collective comeuppance for their pre and early season predictions that Ange Postecoglou wouldn’t last long in the Celtic job. The Hugh Keevins insult (how does that man manage to look himself in the mirror?) through to the Kris Boyd blue tinted dismissal of the Australian and many more that can be added to that list. Keevins reckoned that ANGE stood for Absolutely Not Good Enough and here’s Boyd’s take…

Today Ange had his revenge. Having been recognised by his fellow pros at the PFA Scotland Awards as Manager of the Year and on Sunday night by the Scottish Football Writers (hacks) how does such recognition make the Celtic manager feel?

“It’s obviously hugely humbling and I take a lot of pride. Again, I’m representative of a larger group so you receive that on behalf of the group of people that have worked awfully hard to make something and create something special this year.

And I think part of it is that just the fact that I guess going into it there wasn’t a great deal of expectation in terms of success, whether that was because of me and my own background or just the ground we needed to make up.

“I think, whether it’s the PFA or the writers, I think people just recognise the challenge we had and how we’ve embraced that challenge and so I take great pride in it.

“I didn’t get the one I was favourite for – sacked by Christmas – but I got everything else, so it’s OK.”
