Nottingham Forest keen on making move for reported Celtic target

Nottingham Forest are looking to return for Celtic-linked full-back Lee Buchanan this transfer window. The Derby left-back could be sold as Wayne Rooney copes with the massive financial implications caused by the administrators being called in. Celtic and Nottingham Forest were linked with the impressive youngster.

Celtic were said to be eyeing the versatile left-back as they look to capitalise on Derby’s precarious financial situation by offering £2m for the England U21 Internationalist. However, The Athletic are reporting that Nottingham Forest are keen on bringing Buchanan in from their Championship (and bitter) rivals.

Nottingham Forest bid back in July worth £2m according to The Nottingham Post but this was kicked out as Wayne Rooney refused to sell to a Championship rival, especially not their local rivals. Celtic could still swoop and offer a deal for the left-back but Forest appears to be in pole position now.

Buchanan has made 60 appearances for Derby’s first team and is considered a rising star by Derby, scoring once and assisting three times. The Pride Park club are in administration and look destined for the drop after the EFL subjected them to a points deduction and embargo.

Celtic are currently trying to move on Boli Bolingoli this window with Greg Taylor the preferred candidate for Ange Postecoglou at left-back. Liam Scales and Adam Montgomery have deputised suggesting that the manager is set in terms of his options at the back.
