Null and Void Routed, Celtic’s Nine-in-a-row on the way

UEFA have warned the SPFL that voiding the league will result in no Scottish teams featuring in Europe. The SPFL were always reluctant to discuss this due to the legal and financial implications that ‘null and void’ would cause.

The Scottish Sun are reporting that UEFA, who don’t wish to tell countries how to settle their league, have strongly recommended forgetting voiding the league due to these implications.

Meanwhile, the Daily Record are claiming that the crisis meetings will not feature the discussion of ‘null and void’ meaning that the Follow Follow loyal have failed in their battle to stop the ten. The league officials will name Celtic champions if the league standings are declared final.

Acting as if it never happened will result in meltdown as fans, sponsors and TV companies are all out of pocket for something that ‘did not happen.’ The decision by the Belgian FA, that needs to be ratified by members to call their league and award Club Brugge champions could be the first of many.

The SFA now need to decide whether they want to award Celtic the title now and release the prize money to protect the clubs or if they want to see how long they can hold out in an attempt to play the games.

Ideally, I would like to indulge in the Trophy Day, the celebrations of the end of the campaign but this unprecedented situation that we find ourselves in means that decisions need to be made in order to ensure that Scottish football can return to normality.

Whilst it wouldn’t be my first port of call, I would welcome this decision by the football authorities as it is a calculated and as fair as possible on the majority of the members.

Promotion and Relegation can be negotiated and discussed but the main thing is sorting out what is happening with the prize money that clubs desperately need.

Celtic can now prepare themselves to sell season tickets and prepare for the new season. Unfortunately, Celtic supporters have missed out on a big party. Supporters are due money from the lack of matches as agreed when we purchased our season tickets last year but we need to keep that money in Celtic.

Celtic should, if the standings are declared final, look to credit the supporters back in a number of ways – potentially shares in the club, store credit ahead of the Adidas kit launch or potentially a free Celtic TV subscription package. There are a number of ways to potentially mitigate the loss of these games for us as supporters, but the club need to be in a position to push on next season through this difficult time.

The SPFL meet on Monday to discuss the future of the leagues, whether Celtic are declared Champions then is a matter for them. However, whether it is on the pitch or via video call, Celtic will be winning nine in a row.
