Odsonne Edouard absence explained after Frenchman missed Livi draw

Odsonne Edouard was absent from the Celtic squad that drew away to Livingston last night as this season lurched from one poor result to the next. Celtic are now without a win in the New Year having lost one and drawn three, hardly the form of title contenders. Edouard was missing from the match day squad as Celtic toiled once again.

Neil Lennon told The Glasgow Times that the French striker was suffering from a knee injury and this forced him to miss the game against David Martindale’s Livingston. However, it was confirmed that the talismanic striker would return to the squad for next week’s game against Hamilton Accies at Celtic Park.

Edouard has been linked with a move away from Celtic with Leicester, AC Milan and even Real Madrid mentioned as being interested in the attacker. However, with Celtic’s poor form as well as a quiet season from the 23-year-old, the club may struggle to find the optimal fee for their prized asset.

The French striker has eighteen months remaining on his current Celtic deal and has been linked with a multi-million move from the club since the summer. However, now we have been given the clearest indication that the 23-year-old is planning for his future by joining Stellar Sports.
