Offers To Drive Ange To Leeds Arrive From Across The City

Ange Postecoglou has revitalised Celtic, rebuilt the team and led the club to a domestic double at the first time of asking. His team put on several good displays in the Champions League, without putting their chances away to turn performances into results, and he shows no sign of stopping on the domestic front this term.

The Greek-Australian has guided Celtic to a nine point lead in the SPFL title race, while a Viaplay Cup Final beckons, with the Scottish Cup still to play for. The Hoops are unbeaten in 18 matches – the longest unbeaten run of any top flight team in Europe – and they are on course to break the club’s record points tally. All that being achieved, while playing incredibly exciting football, has meant that Ange’s name is inevitably linked to most vacant managerial posts in England.

As the media discuss Ange’s commitment to Celtic versus the chance to test himself in a better league, former players of a former club across the city have been offering to drive the great manager down to Yorkshire. Such a position is only naturally, given that those ex-players lend their allegiance to Glasgow’s newest professional football club these days.

Indeed, Ally McCoist was the first man to jokingly state that he would take Ange to Elland Road. Meanwhile, Barry Ferguson has now followed suit.

Speaking to the Daily Record, Ferguson said: “I don’t know where Postecoglu’s house is. But if someone would be kind enough to pass me his home address, I’ll gladly nip over there this afternoon and offer him a lift down the road to Leeds United.

“Let’s be honest, they might not be willing to admit it but there’s hardly a Rangers fan out there who wouldn’t be quietly relieved if the big Aussie was tempted away from Glasgow for a shot at the English Premier League. And I’m pretty sure Michael Beale would feel the same way.”

Those comments followed McCoist telling TalkSport: “He (Ange) is very good. If Terry the truck driver is going to pick Neil (Warnock) up then I could head up to Glasgow and pick big Ange up.”

Hopefully, it turns out to be wishful thinking on their part as there is still a treble to be won, along with another crack at the Champions League.
