Oh Danny Bhoy the Celts, the Celts are calling

Getting young Daniel signed up will prove to be good business for Brendan Rodgers…

Daniel Kelly didn’t take the controversial defeat to Hearts well

According to reports young Daniel Kelly is close to agreeing terms on a new contract, which would be welcome news indeed. The 18 year old doesn’t have long left on his current deal and teams from England and Germany are believed to be looking to swoop for the youngster, so getting him tied down on a more secure deal is good business.

Daniel scored his first goal against Dundee a few weeks ago and has since made another two appearances from the bench against Hearts and Livingston, and he didn’t look out of place. A big future surely beckons for the 18 year old.

The club have lost a few talented youngsters to several sides in England and further afield in Europe the past few years, so persuading a highly regarded talent like Daniel to stay will be a big boost. It’s been a while since we had a youth player make the grade in the first team. Callum McGregor and James Forrest are of course still in the side and have been a revelation for the club.

But we’ve not had a youth player make the grade at the club since Kieran Tierney, so to have a big talent to come through the ranks like Daniel is very pleasing. He of course has a long way to go, but signing him up for the long term will help his case greatly.

Hopefully young Rocco Vata can make it a promising double delight for Celtic and give added encouragement to all the boys in the Celtic Academy who dream about playing for Celtic but couldn’t be blamed in recent years for thinking that the door is closed.

Brendan Rodgers is looking at changing that by showing faith in the likes of Daniel Kelly and Rocco Vata. That’s the Celtic way and it’s a welcome return to our traditions of developing our own players.

  1. Kelly worth new contract scales to roco here more of him than see him now Rodgers have young wingers khun against livi shows why Celtic bought him ⁷ a good footballing brain plays with head up he will have a good few assists south Korean was good the last few games till a terribly decision by a officail that have made so many awful decisions against our players it is really biased id say he will be involved in a big way in spl and cup games cause that’s how sfa work turn a blind I instead of picking best they stand by worst and there is no worst than beaton.I’d rate one scottish officail good enough for European ties the rest have let there upbringing in glasgow and West of Scotland ruin their careerers
