On This Day: The King of Kings Henrik Larsson celebrates his birthday

Henrik Larsson turns 52 today and many are sharing their memories of the King of Kings time in the Hoops. However, sometimes you just need to sit back and watch the master at work as he scored goals with such ease. £650k was the fee that Wim Jansen paid Feyenoord in 1997 and it is fair to say that this represents one of the best pieces of transfer business in modern times.

Henrik was not in attendance last night after two of his former clubs faced up in the UEFA Champions League Group Stages in Rotterdam. The Scottish Champions were beaten 2-0 by Feyenoord on a night that they could’ve benefited from some of Larsson’s goals in Europe.

In seven seasons, Larsson averaged 34 goals and 16 assists per year. An astonishing return considering in 1999 he spent a lengthy spell out with a broken leg.

If you have 15 minutes and would like to remise over the King of Kings’ time in Paradise, all 242 goals feature in the brilliant video below.

Happy Birthday, Henrik.
