Only one Celtic player receives praise as the Italian media tear into the squad for the performance vs AC Milan

The Italian football media have always been famous for taking things much more seriously than us while they never pull any punches either, so it’s been interesting to see some of the reaction to the game last night.

AC Milan were probably expected to win but Celtic shot themselves in the foot with a poor first half, but it appears that Scott Brown and Shane Duffy didn’t impress at all.

The Scotsman rounded up most of the comments from the Italian papers, but here’s some of the more notable comments that came out.

Duffy was the main target with one outlet literally just labelling him as “the worst”, mainly for going missing for the first goal and letting his man go for the third, but they pointed out he wasn’t exactly brilliant for the second goal either.

They also tore into Scott Brown by stating he should be “half bulwark-half conductor, but he wasn’t able to do either”, before stating the only thing he did was try to scuffle with Zlatan.

The only player who did take some praise was touted Milan target Kristoffer Ajer, as they did concede that they could see why Milan were interested in signing him.

It’s frustrating from a Celtic point of view because the experienced players in the side didn’t play well and it took them too long to change the formation but there were some signs of life there.

Comments like these will only fire up experienced professionals and the coaching staff should’ve learned a lot last night about some players, so hopefully the return fixture is a more competitive affair.
