Opinion: Celtic should not sell Odsonne Edouard at any price right now

News broke out earlier today that Brendan Rodgers was plotting a reunion with Odsonne Edouard at Leicester City. And according to the Daily Mail, the manager is ready to offer as much as £30 million in order to lure the Frenchman to the Premier League. Such a deal would see transfer records tumble in Scotland.

The 21-year-old has scored 16 goals and provided 15 assists this season and might very well be the best player in Scotland at the moment. He has been linked with a number of top clubs through the course of the season and the latest in that line are Leicester City. Rodgers’ side are surprisingly on course to qualify for the Champions League this season. And their manager seems interested in a reunion with the guy that he brought to Celtic in order to bolster his options up top.

Celtic though cannot afford to let Edouard get distracted by the rumours at this point of time. They are challenging for a record-equaling ninth straight league title this season. And they need the Frenchman to be at his best, especially with the reemergence of the Rangers as genuine contenders.

In our opinion, the Hoops should not rush into selling Edouard. He is just 21 years of age and is only going to get better from here on. And with the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur being linked with the Frenchman, his transfer value is only going to go up. Thus, Celtic must resist the urge to sell, no matter what the offer is from Leicester City.
