The fear over keeping Fraser Forster was always going to be that a Premier League side would come in and show and interest, and that’s now been realised.
He was outstanding last season and it looked like he had finally settled back into a club that suited him perfectly, so making the return to Glasgow makes a lot of sense.
The problem comes after The Daily Record suggested that Chelsea are now showing an interest, with Southampton reportedly looking for £10m to let him go, while they also point out that his £70k per week wages could be an issue.

In terms of actually playing, Chelsea’s first choice Kepa did have a bit of a nightmare last season so he might get a chance, but Frank Lampard has also shown that he will happily throw his keepers under the bus, so one mistake and Forster could find himself on the bench.
At Celtic he knows he’s going to be first choice in a team playing in Europe and battling for trophies, where that isn’t guaranteed at Chelsea.
It’s not really clear where Celtic are in their negotiations to bring him back, but you have to imagine that paying the £10m fee and those wages really won’t be a problem for Chelsea.
The concern from a Celtic point of view should centre around what Southampton will decide to do – not Forster.
He’s at an age where he should want to play, but it’s not like Southampton have any real reason to be loyal to him or take a financial hit to allow him to do what he wants.
If this purely comes down to money then it’s likely they will push him towards a Chelsea move, so let’s hope there’s another twist and he does come back to Celtic Park next season.
