Celtic are in line for a £2 million financial boost this week as former forward Oh Hyeon-gyu sealed a £13 million transfer to Turkish side Besiktas. Meanwhile Celtic are in advanced talks with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and there is a medical today ahead of this evening’s Europa League squad deadline.

As we reported this morning Celtic are progressing with the deal to sign former England international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain ahead of the deadline for registering the squad for the Europa League campaign which continues this month with a play-off tie against Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart.

Celtic can make three changes to the initial squad with Oxlade-Chamberlain set to take one of the three places should the move be finalised today. The 32 year-old former Liverpool and Arsenal star has been training with the Gunners over the past few months so is fit but will need some match fitness which could start this weekend in the match against Dundee in the Scottish Cup at Celtic Park.

Meanwhile the South Korea international signed a lucrative deal with the Istanbul club after Belgian outfit Genk accepted a substantial bid for the striker.
As Celtic included a significant sell-on clause when they sold Oh to Genk 18 months ago for £3.5 million, the Scottish champions are now set to benefit from his latest move.
The Hoops could have earned even more last summer when our upcoming Europa League opponents VfB Stuttgart struck a £26 million deal for Oh, only for the transfer to collapse due to concerns over a knee issue during his medical. The player later insisted he had not suffered any knee problems since his school days.

That appeared to have been an excuse as the recruitment staff appeared to have made a significant error in their perceived valuation of Oh and the medical was subsequently used as an excuse to walk away from the commitment to overspend.
Despite those previous doubts, Besiktas have understandably raised no fitness concerns on Oh, and with the Turkish transfer window still open, the deal is expected to go through this week.
Oh scored 10 goals in 32 matches for Genk this campaign and lifted five domestic trophies during his two seasons at Celtic under Ange Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers.

In other news, Celtic Fans Collective have called for a boycott of Saturday’s Scottish Cup fifth round tie against Dundee.
In their latest statement posted on X, CFC Collective outlined: “Following the latest disappointing transfer window, the Celtic Fans Collective met last night to discuss the ongoing campaign for positive change at the football club.”
“An overwhelming majority of supporters’ club representatives, fan group representatives, and independent supporters voted in favour of a boycott of Saturday evening’s cup match against Dundee.”
“With supporters unjustly banned, fan media locked out, and an executive team widely regarded as unfit for purpose, the clear feeling within the Collective was that the time for action is now. While we recognise the difficult and emotional toll this decision will have on many Celtic supporters, we invite and encourage fans to stand with us in sending a clear and unequivocal message to Celtic FC: you must take decisive action, initiate meaningful change and restore positive communication with supporters.”

“The Celtic Fans Collective has agreed on three key areas the club must address to prevent the boycott and further protest action:
• The removal of Michael Nicholson as CEO
• The reinstatement of the Green Brigade
• The lifting of access restrictions on all fan media organisations, allowing them to cover both the men’s and women’s teams once again.
“Following Brian Wilson’s call for unity four weeks ago, the Celtic Fans Collective offered to meet with the Chairman to discuss how this unity could be achieved at the club.”
“Unfortunately, that offer was ignored. Despite this, we remain open to further engagement.”
“In the meantime, the Celtic Fans Collective will begin the process of planning and coordinating further protest action in the coming weeks.”
We know boycotts are difficult and deeply emotive for Celtic fans. But if you want positive change at the Club, this action is now necessary.

It should be noted that each and every supporter is perfectly entitled to attend the match or boycott depending in their own views and circumstances. There should be no criticism dished out either way.
