Patryk Klimala believes he is ’90 per cent’ Jamie Vardy

It is no secret that Celtic needed to sign a new striker this January after seeing both Leigh Griffiths and Vakoun Issouf Bayo struggle for the first half of the season. This signing was made in the form of 21-year-old Polish striker, Patryk Klimala, who was bought for €4-million from Jagiellonia Bialystok. But it looks like many Hoops fans have their doubts regarding the youngster.

The striker made his first bow in Celtic colours yesterday when he came on in the 79th minute for Leigh Griffiths. And while very highly-rated in his native Poland, it is hard to know what to expect from the youngster as so little is known about him in Scottish football circles.

But it looks like Klimala himself believes that he is very similar to Leicester City star, Jamie Vardy. Speaking with Daily Record, he said:

“You can compare me to Vardy maybe 90 per cent. I know about the player but I am not a big fan of English football.

“I don’t really watch it often. But from what I know you could maybe compare me 90 per cent.”

Klimala is particularly known for his pace and it is not hard to see why he compares his style to that of the Englishman. Vardy is the Premier League’s top scorer this season and so if Klimala is anywhere near that good, Celtic fans can be happy with their investment.
