Australian club Perth Glory have honoured former Celtic midfielder Liam Miller on World Pancreatic Cancer Day. The ex-Hibs man sadly passed away from the disease in 2018 at the age of just 37. It was a massive shock and was a terrible tragedy for Liam’s family at that time.
Breaking through during the Martin O’Neill era, Liam was a very promising talent and one who was earmarked to be a future Celtic icon. However Manchester United and Alex Ferguson came calling, leaving the Irishman with the opportunity of a lifetime. He duly left for pastures new but couldn’t solidify a place in an illustrious United midfield around 2004/5.
He did have another spell in Scottish football with Hibernian and still managed to forge out a respectable career within the game. When his cancer diagnosis was revealed it left the footballing world in sadness for one of its own. Sadly, Liam would pass away in 2018 from cancer of the pancreas which left a dark cloud.
Perth Glory have honoured Liam Miller as the month of November is the official month of Pancreatic Cancer. Today is the exact day when the world joins in unison and solidarity for those who have suffered or are suffering from the disease. One of Celtic’s most loved sons, Frank McGarvey is currently fighting the horrible illness which The Celtic Star covered earlier today. I’m sure we’re all keeping Frank and his family in our thoughts, along with Liam’s on this reflective day.
Perth Glory also announced that the music which accompanied their tribute to the late midfielder has been adopted as the anthem for World Pancreatic Cancer Day. They posted this via their official Twitter account this morning with a link to both the video and asked if you could show your support by streaming it online.
The music video teaser that we recently shared to honour Liam Miller has just been internationally released as the pancreatic anthem for World Pancreatic Cancer Day.
