Philippe Clement and Hugh Keevins both ‘Absolutely Not Good Enough’

Yet another Hugh Keevins prediction going spectacularly wrong. Who’d have thought it?

Hugh Keevins is a journalist to trade, and football is considered to be his area of expertise. However as he’s got older he’s become more of a shock jock, soup sipping boot licker, pandering the Ibrox clubs and a critic of Celtic who he likes to boot whenever an appropriate situation arises.

How many doom and gloom yet joyous rants have we heard from him?

How many doom and gloom yet joyous rants have we heard from him on the radio after Celtic lost a goal, only for seconds later Celtic score. The St Johnstone equaliser a few season back at McDiarmid Park was a perfect example, Celtic were looking like dropping two points with a minute of stoppage time to play. Keevins was in full flow when Giorgios Giakoumakis scored the winner.

The number of his bold claims that have spectacularly backfired on Keevins is as long as the list of unpaid Rangers creditors from 2012, from the face painter to Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs.

Whether it’s his wild takes on the airwaves, or his thoughts in print, his insane views are inevitably proved to be completely wide of the mark. It’s embarrassing and perhaps it’s now time for Shug to hang up the mic and put down the pen. But instead he’ll be on the radio proclaiming the new manager at Ibrox as the greatest thing since, well Philippe Clement and prediction doom and gloom for Celtic.

Most of his venomous rants are aimed at Celtic

Most of his venomous rants are aimed at our own football club, hence the reason he’s banned from setting foot inside Celtic Park, or at least he was. Is he still unwelcome at Celtic Park? I don’t really know for sure.

Keevins latest claim to come back to haunt him was his take on Phillipe Clement back in October 2023 in which he described the Belgian as a true heavyweight and a viable threat to Brendan Rodgers.

Keevins purred with excitement about the Belgian

Keevins purred with excitement about the Belgian as he warned Brendan that he was going to get his first big test from the Ibrox dugout. He even compared Clement to Ange Postecoglou! The same Ange Postecoglou he had the nerve to write off after his first domestic game in charge.

Keevins said Ange stood for ‘Absolutely Not Good Enough’

Ange stood for ‘Absolutely Not Good Enough’. That was Keevins description of the Aussie who would go on to win five trophies out of six before going on to become the Tottenham manager. I think we can all agree that terminology can be wholeheartedly used to describe auld Shug’s career as a footballing journalist, especially in his later years where he’s found an niche being anti-Celtic and a gushing advocate for everything and anything that suits theRangers.

If Barry Ferguson is appointed it will be worth listening to hear Shug try to sell that one to the masses.

An ordinary everyday Celtic supporters hailing and still residing in Govan in the shadows of the enemy. I’m a season ticket holder. I Witnessed my first Celtic game in 1988 and have attended when I can ever since. Growing up in the 90s I witnessed Celtic at their lowest, and now appreciate the historic success we enjoy today. I enjoy writing about this wonderful football club and hopefully will continue to do so. I’ve always been a keen writer and initially started this a hobby. My ambition is to one day become as good an author as my fellow Celtic Star colleagues.
