Photo: “I lost my head for a second”, Bitton issues apology

Nir Bitton has apologised after being sent off in tonight’s game with FC Midtjylland. The Israeli defender was shown two yellow cards in the first half as Celtic drew with the Danish side in the First Leg of the Second Qualifying Round of The Champions League.

Dreyer dived in the box, which lead to Bitton reacting, putting his finger in the face of the Midtjylland winger and giving the ref a decision to make. Sandro Schärer decided that this was worthy of a second yellow card, which reduced Ange Postecoglou’s side to ten men for the second half. The manager refused to comment on the decision in his post-match interview.

Dreyer was himself sent off for two bookable offences after diving to try and win a free-kick in the second half.

Bitton, meanwhile, needs to pick himself up and prove to the manager that he can be counted upon after this lapse in judgment. He can still be an important player under Postecoglou but he needs to work hard to prove that he can learn from his mistakes.

Just like the Rangers game you made a challenge you didn’t have to make and cost Celtic a Win

  4. Bitton is just too hot headed for someone of his age and experience, remember when he got caught out against Sevco,he will never learn ,too old too late to learn.
