Photo: New signing Carl Starfelt arrives at Paradise

Carl Starfelt has been pictured in the Hoops for the first time as the Swedish defender arrived in Glasgow. The central back completed his quarantine in London having completed his £4.2m move from Rubin Kazan to Celtic last week but has now arrived in Glasgow as he looks to shore up Celtic’s inexperienced defence.

The 26-year-old replaces Kris Ajer in the Celtic defence with the Norwegian moving to Brentford but given Celtic’s defensive woes, the supporters are eagerly looking forward to the defender making his debut.

With the Swede training today and Friday, there is a chance that he will be available for this weekend’s trip to Tynecastle. Given that the game is in the evening, the manager and his staff will actually have more time to assess whether he is fit to play or not. After the display last night, Celtic need experience in the backline and Starfelt could be the man to help address the issues at the back for Ange Postecoglou.

  1. Great time to join when it is blatantly apparent that the club is going nowhere. Big fella will be thinking if I play reasonably I will stand out in this collection of no marks and be some where else by February.
