Photo Of The Day: A Game That Proved Beating Champions 3-0 Meant Nothing

In May 1995 Celtic beat Rangers 3-0 in a dead rubber as the Ibrox side had already lifted the league title.

A week later, the team headed to Easter Road and drew 1-1 with Hibernian. Willie Falconer scored the goal for the Celts.

The game merely highlighted the insignificance of the derby victory a few days earlier. It also had no bearing on the following season as Rangers again won the title, just as they did for a further two seasons also.

There isn’t always a lot to celebrate about 3-0 victories when one team has already done their job for the season at your expense.
