Photo Of The Day: A Top Goalscorer From The Dutch League

The return of the photo of the day feature celebrates the news of Giorgos Giakoumakis’ return from injury this weekend, by showing another top goalscorer from the Dutch league who once played in the Hoops.

Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink signed for Celtic in the summer of 2006. He cost the club almost three and a half million pounds, having scored 19 goals in 28 matches for PSV in the previous season. A Dutch international, he was one of the Nerthlands’ top marksmen and that showed when he scored key goals against Rangers and the likes of Barcelona.

Let’s hope Giakoumakis can score a similarly title defining strike in the coming weeks.
