Photo Of The Day: Artur Boruc Flies The Flag At Ibrox

Today’s photo of the day comes from 5 May 2007, when Celtic suffered a 2-0 defeat at Ibrox. Not normally an event to look back on with any fondness, this match was slightly different as Celtic were already league champions having beaten Kilmarnock two weeks earlier.

After the match, the Celtic end of Ibrox burst into a thunderous rendition of Championees ole ole ole, before Artur Boruc collected a champions flag from the Celtic support and proceeded to parade around Ibrox with it.

Rangers later reported the incident to the police, but strangely failed to report any of the sectarian and anti Irish singing that took place that day. No doubt it was a provocative action, but it’s one that we can look back on with a smile at the craziness of the Holy Goalie.
