Photo Of The Day: Celtic Fans At Stranraer

Today’s photo of the day revisits the Scottish Cup Fourth Round tie between Stranraer and Celtic at Stair Park. The match took place in January 2016 and saw the Hoops triumph by three goals to nil. Leigh Griffiths and Carlton Cole gave the Bhoys a 2-0 lead at the break, before Griffiths got his second of the afternoon to secure things in the closing stages.

The Celtic faithful were in fine voice at the League One club’s ground, but were asked to refrain from over exuberance by then manager Ronny Deila in order to protect the club’s great reputation.

Smoke bombs were one issue that was quoted, but one Stranraer fan made a quite outrageous claim on Twitter when remarking that a Lidl plastic bag full of faeces was thrown at them! Hopefully that was little more than a disturbing joke!
