Photo Of The Day: Celtic Win Their First Ever Scottish Cup (1892)

Today’s photo of the day comes from season 1891/92, when Celtic won their first ever Scottish Cup. Since then, the competition has been one of the club’s favourite – with a further 39 triumphs in the competition taking place until 2019/20.

These men led the way and should never be forgotten. The image of the starting line up on Scottish Cup Final day 1892 can be seen below:

The men depicted are:

Cullen;
Reynolds and Doyle;
Maley, Kelly and Gallacher;
McCallum, Brady, Dowds, McMahon, and Campbell

Together, they defeated Queen’s Park by five goals to one. Celtic’s goals came from McMahon (2), Campbell (2), and an own goal.
