Photo Of The Day: Portuguese Airways

Today’s photo of the day shows an old advert from the Daily Record’s 26 April 1967 edition!

Celtic had just eliminated Dukla Prague with a 0-0 draw in Czechoslovakia being enough to see the tie out. That success meant the team booked their place in Lisbon for the European Cup Final and it was then the turn of supporters to do the same.

Foreign travel was a rare luxury in those days so the newspaper printed an advert informing people how to get to Lisbon and hoping to sell flight tickets for Portuguese Airways.

It was well worth the journey!
