Photo Of The Day: Retro St Johnstone Programme

Today’s photo of the day looks back to an image involving tomorrow’s opponents. Simon Donnelly can be seen sporting a strip that has now become a popular retro item, on sale at the Celtic Park Superstore, for the matchday programme in 1994.

The match was drawn 1-1 on a Wednesday evening – 27 April 1994. It was Donnelly who scored Celtic’s goal that night, appeasing the lowly 10,000 crowd inside Paradise in the process.

A repeat result won’t do for Celtic at the weekend, as the Hoops look to close the gap at the top to within a point. The fortunes of the club have turned dramatically since 1994, however few could have envisaged St Johnstone winning a domestic double either!
