Photo Of The Day: Scott Brown Scores Against Celtic

Today’s photo of the day is somewhat unusual as it shows a goal being scored against Celtic, and not just a goal scored by any old player; indeed it was netted by none other than the man who would go on to captain the Hoops and serve the club for over a decade!

Scott Brown had already signed his deal to move to Parkhead in the summer, when he headed home against the Bhoys in May 2007. Hibs beat Celtic 2-1 at Easter Road that afternoon and Brown’s strike was the equaliser in response to former Hibee Derek Riordan putting the Celts in front four minutes earlier. Ivan Sproule then rounded off the scoring in the last minute.

Despite the defeat, both sets of supporters cheered Scott Brown. It was the first time such a scenario had manifest itself in the midfielder’s career and is a scene that could be replicated this season if he plays against Celtic for Aberdeen.
