Reports says Celtic target Dembele favours move to Scotland

Siriki Dembele favour a move to Scotland, according to reports in England. The Peterborough Telegraph claims that if no move transpires, the 24-year-old is open to remaining in England but he is hoping that a move to Scotland materialises. Celtic have been linked with the player but this may be expedited as Ange Postecoglou admitted that he was light on numbers after the pre-season draw versus Bristol City.

Dembele is the brother of Celtic youth prospect Karamoko Dembele and has been linked with the Scottish Champions as well as Glasgow rivals Rangers. However, given Karamoko Dembele and Mikey Johnston were forced from the field yesterday, Postecoglou and Celtic may move for the versatile attacking midfielder. With one year remaining on his deal with Posh, Dembele has been added to the transfer list. Dembele, who can also play as a winger, earned a place in the EFL League One Team of the Year as Peterborough earned automatic promotion to the Championship.

Dembele, who started his career with Dundee United, joined Posh in June 2018 and has scored 11 goals and notched up 12 assists for the London Road outfit this season. This impressive form has garnered the interest of a number of teams, including Celtic. Postecoglou’s new-look side could be well placed to offer Dembele the next step in his career with the chance to play for trophies as well as in Europe.
