Today’s photo of the day takes readers back to happier times, in April 2001, when Celtic lifted only their second SPL trophy since 1988.
The party was brought in with a 1-0 victory over Hearts at Celtic Park, Lubo coming on as a substitute to score the winning goal in the 67th minute.
Martin O’Neill’s men had been unfancied at the start of the season but secured the double with this triumph, before going on to complete the treble in May.
Henrik Larsson was every Celtic fan’s hero and he scored 53 goals in that 2000/01 season. The Swede was famous for his “tongue-out” celebration and this young supporter was captured imitating the King during a rousing rendition of You’ll Never Walk Alone.
Daily Record feature when we were presented the SPL trophy in April 2001. Incredibly, it was only our second title since 1988. Being 5 years old at the time, this was also my trademark celebration for any goals scored against Dad in the back garden pic.twitter.com/BOyxyJrPCh

After winning that title, Celtic went on to lift 14 of the next 19 league championships. Many could argue that we should have won at least three more as well (losing the title on goal difference 2002/03, Black Sunday 2004/05, losing the title by a point due to defeat at Inverness 2010/11).
Hopefully such joyous scenes will return soon.
