A photo on social media depicts Livingston’s Tony Macaroni stadium under snow ahead of tonight’s game against Celtic, meaning the game could be called off. The picture, shared across Twitter and Facebook, appears to depict the pitch this morning just hours ahead of The Scottish Champions’ visit to the stadium.
Livi have had two games postponed this year already with Aberdeen suffering from then call-offs. A frozen pitch and also a waterlogged pitch emphasise the issues with the ‘4G surface’ in West Lothian.
Although this could very well be an old photo from the snow last week that is being circulated, it remains unclear at this stage. Although, as there was snow forecast yesterday along with the recent games being postponed, it isn’t out with the realms of possibility that the snow might cause some issues for the game tonight.
It would be an unwelcome turn of events for Celtic, who are desperate to get points on the board and close the gap with Rangers. However, with The Scottish Cup being postponed, the club moved to bring forward the game with St Mirren so that there were not two weekends without a game.
Celtic are yet to win at Livi since their promotion in 2018. It is a notoriously tough ground and if the game does go ahead it will be even more unpleasant if it has had a layer of snow over it.
