Piers Morgan questions Celtic’s Tierney price as left-back produces another MOTM performance

Broadcaster Piers Morgan has questioned how Arsenal got away with paying just £25m to Celtic for Kieran Tierney. The left-back was outstanding in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Newcastle in the FA Cup.

The Good Morning Britain presenter and well-known Arsenal fan is renowned for his criticism of the Government during this pandemic but he has praised KT for yet another impressive performance down the left hand side.

Arsenal stumped up £25m for Tierney in 2019, enough to let the 23-year-old join The Emirates club. The left-back made over 170 appearances for Celtic, winning five league titles and three League Cups and Scottish Cups during his time whilst enjoying hero status with supporters as being ‘one of us’.

When you consider some of the fees that have been thrown about in recent years – in particularly Arsenal, Tierney will likely be considered a bargain. It isn’t the first time Celtic have been accused of under valuing a player, Virgil Van Dijk joined Southampton for £13m and a few seasons later he became the World’s most expensive defender. Wanyama, Dembele, Armstrong and Forster all fall into a similar category in terms of players that have gone on and proven their worth in another league.

Bolingoli, Hayes, Taylor and Laxalt have all been called upon since Tierney switched Glasgow for London proving that Celtic are still struggling to find a viable replacement for the Scotland Internationalist.

  1. It won’t be the last time CELTIC get mugged in the transfer world letting players go on the cheap and buying at inflated prices, it’s been happening for years.

  2. He will go to a top European club for a substantial fee if he left Celtic he will move from arsenal I bet Celtic will have more than 10 percent he didnt leave Celtic he left spl he was getting no protection it was open season on him

  3. Celtic are a very well run Club under Peter Lawwell however his policy of selling our best players on the cheap is shocking, the recent players sold Tierney etc values have almost trebled meaning Celtic have effectively lost over £100 million. and spending £5 million for a useless keeper when we could have got Craig Gordon on a free.

  4. Absolute rubbish. It is purely down to the fact people in England have no respect for Scottish football. They will not pay the same for a Scottish player as they would for a player in a foreign country.
Celtic have three players at the moment, McGregor, Christie and Turnbull, collectively they are worth £100 million. Playing in any other league that would be the money, in Scotland sadly no way.
As regards the comment about no protection for Kieran, this guy further insults Scottish Football. I don’t follow Celtic and can’t claim to have a deep knowledge of tackles on him, other than a Motherwell player having a ridiculous tackle on him. He is a fantastic player who hardly missed a game for Celtic. To claim he left Scotland because of a lack of protection is fairy tale stuff.
My own team Hamilton Academical have suffered more from our young players being injured by tackles, at the moment we have almost a full team out with injuries. Why do supporters of the Glasgow based ugly sisters always blame other people for things that happen to their team.
Final thought, much as I hate to admit it the Motherwell centre half would walk into the Celtic team and be a star. Will Celtic pay £10 million for him, NO. Yet in the long term that is what he is worth to Celtic Football Club.

Think if Tierney Wanyama vandyke were English league players. The best league in the world. My arse. They would respectively cost. 3 times there value.
