Postecoglou insists there is still room for improvment for Abada

Celtic boss, Ange Postecoglou was impressed by Liel Abada’s performance against Motherwell in their 4-0 mauling of the Steelmen. However, the Celtic gaffer believes there is still room for improvement for the young winger.

Celtic put in another top-tier performance against Motherwell in the Premier Sports Cup, easily knocking them out of the competition by putting four goals past Liam Kelly.

Liel Abada broke the deadlock during the first half by netting Celtic’s first goal. He later struck again early in the second half, deflating the Motherwell side, which was later confirmed by the Motherwell gaffer, Stevie Hammell.

Abada returned to Ange Postecoglou’s starting XI and did not disappoint, scoring twice and increasing his tally of goals up to eight this season.

However, Ange Postecoglou believes although Abada played a good game against Motherwell, he still hasn’t perfected his game and still has lots to learn. As reported by the Express, when asked if Abada’s ability is something that can be coached, Ange Postecoglou told Premier Sports after the game…

“I hope so mate or I may as well not be here. We try and help him but he’s a great kid. He wants to learn and improve and there are still areas he can improve that’s the reality of it.”

“He took his goals very well today and should have had a hat trick in the end. It’s really important again for the guys to come in and do a good job for us. It’s a busy period for us and I’m rotating the squad a fair bit but the pleasing thing for me is the performances are staying constant.”

After knocking Motherwell out of the competition, Celtic will travel to Hampden in mid-January to take on Kilmarnock in the semi-final. If we win that one we’ll play the winners of the other semi-final where theRangers face Aberdeen.
