Postecoglou’s transfer hint – Celtic closing in on another signing

Ange Postecoglou has revealed that Celtic are on the verge of another January signing, adding on from the two signings the Celtic gaffer has already confirmed.

With the World Cup taking place in Qatar, and with club football being temporarily paused for the occasion, Ange Postecoglou let no time go to waste as he acted to strengthen his squad over the break. The January transfer window isn’t even open yet and Ange has confirmed two signings, Canadian right-back Alistair Johnston and centre-back Yuki Kobayashi.

It seems, however, that these signings aren’t enough for the Celtic manager as he continues to explore possible alternatives to further deepen the quality of the Celtic squad.

Speaking to the mainstream media yesterday, as reported by  Football Scotland, Ange confirmed that Celtic are close to a new signing. “We’re getting pretty close now, I know Michael ([Nicholson) and Chris (McKay)  want to spend some time with their families at Christmas. We’re working on things.

“There are still a couple that we are kind of investigating at the moment. We will see how things transpire over the next week or so. We’re not even into January yet so there is still a bit of time.

However, it’s worth keeping in mind that it is entirely likely that Celtic will see some of its current major talents depart from Paradise this coming January transfer window. Following Josip Juranovic’s spectacular performances, most notably against Brazil, Celtic will be receiving big-money offers for the full-back. As of yesterday though Celtic have received no bids for any player, the Celtic manager stated at his Media Conference.

In any case, recent rumours indicate that Ange could be looking for another striker to add to his squad’s goalscoring potential.
